SEO For Images

I learned something very interesting about optimizing images for the Web a few days ago thanks to Ryan Deiss which I would like to share with you today.

See, I already knew about using the SEO title attribute with images and their tags.

NOTE: I did not say ALT tag SEO though that is very important for your success with images that you use on your Website.

Like the ALT attribute SEO process the image title SEO is added within the IMG link for that image and looks like {title=”SEO anchor text here”} within the IMG link.  A trick that few know about is linking that image to another page of the site, even if it is the same exact page that the image is on.
Why?

Because you can now add a second SEO title attribute within the HREF link which looks exactly like the first one in form; just be sure to change the keyword phrase within for best SEO image search success.
But that’s not what I learned.

Nope.

What I did learn about SEO Google images is the naming of the files.  Okay, perhaps you know to create SEO image names like I do.  But did you know that for best search engine optimization images some should not be named at all?

I didn’t.

Which images should not be subjected to search engine optimization?

SEO Google images that do not deal directly with the niche subject material at hand are those that should never be optimized or named.

These images may include logos, bullets, arrows and such.  Anything that does not relate directly to the niche you are building content for.

Okay, so you have to name the file something right, otherwise you can’t save it so what do you do?
You name them a number without including any letters.

1.JPG – 2.JPG – 3.JPG

And so on.

Why?

Because Google realizes that you are not trying to create SEO image names and ignores them.
Oh yeah, before I go, also put captions under your JPG’s when you do search engine optimization images.  I’m just beginning to explore this concept, but it also came from Ryan Deiss and as such I consider it to be very valuable information for us all to use when we do SEO for images.
